JH-350-C Sugar Mill Roller Hardfacing Machine
Portable automatic hardfacing system for sugar cane mill roll repair.
The JH-350-C Sugar Mill Roller Hardfacing Machine is a portable automatic welding system developed specifically for maintenance and rebuilding of sugar mill rollers.
Designed for on-site sugar factory maintenance, the machine combines programmable X/Y movement, automatic wire feeding, water-cooled welding torches, PLC control and wireless remote operation.
Why the JH-350-C Fits Sugar Mill Maintenance
It can perform several specialized welding patterns for repairing worn sugar mill roll teeth, side surfaces, comb plates and other wear areas.
Typical Applications
The JH-350-C is mainly designed for:
- Sugar cane mill rollers
- Pressure roller teeth
- Roller side surfaces
- Comb plates
- Worn roller tooth profiles
- Sugar mill wear components
It is suitable for both preventive hardfacing and repair of worn sugar mill components.
Sugar mill roller repair — roller teeth, side surfaces and comb components.
Portable X/Y Automatic Welding System
The machine uses lightweight high-strength aluminum alloy tracks and mobile welding carriages. The X-axis track can be configured up to approximately 4 meters, while the Y-axis guide provides transverse torch movement.
Aluminium alloy track & mobile carriage — X-axis track up to approximately 4 m.
Modular Design for On-Site Maintenance
The modular design makes the system easier to:
- Transport
- Install
- Position on site
- Move between different rollers
- Use during scheduled sugar mill maintenance
Stable Flux-Cored Wire Feeding
The JH-350-C uses a stepper-driven wire feeding system with four driven feed rollers.
It is suitable for hardfacing wires approximately Ø1.6–3.2 mm.
A five-wheel wire straightening unit is installed before the wire enters the welding torch.
The system is designed to provide:
- High feeding torque
- Stable wire speed
- Reliable flux-cored wire feeding
- Consistent welding quality
Four-wheel dual-drive wire feeding — stepper-driven feeding with a 5-wheel straightener.
Water-cooled hardfacing torch — dual circulating water cooling for long welding cycles.
Water-Cooled Hardfacing Torch
Continuous high-current hardfacing generates significant heat at the welding torch.
The JH-350-C therefore uses a dual circulating water cooling system to help maintain stable torch temperature during long welding cycles.
The torch angle can also be adjusted according to the roller surface, allowing the welding head to reach different areas of the sugar mill roll.
Dual circulating water cooling / Adjustable torch angle / Continuous welding cycles
Specialized Sugar Mill Welding Programs
A major advantage of the JH-350-C is its dedicated welding software for sugar mill roll maintenance.
Continuous Inclined-Surface Welding
Used for automatic hardfacing of roller side surfaces. The operator defines the start point, end point and torch safety position, after which the system automatically follows the programmed welding path.
Rectangular Welding
Designed for repairing worn surfaces of roller teeth, gear-like profiles and comb plate teeth. The system can repeatedly weld the defined worn area until the required profile is restored.
Automatic Teardrop Welding
Teardrop deposits on the top of sugar roll teeth are commonly used to improve surface grip during cane crushing. The JH-350-C can automatically control roll movement, welding timing, teardrop spacing and deposit length. This replaces large amounts of repetitive manual spot welding and significantly reduces maintenance labor.
Triangular Welding
This function is designed for rebuilding triangular comb teeth. After the operator defines the start and end positions and enters the required number of teeth, the machine automatically performs the programmed welding cycle.
Circular Welding
Circular welding is used to rebuild worn areas on the sides of sugar mill rollers. The system automatically deposits wear-resistant material around the selected circular area.
Automatic Tooth-Top Repair
For worn roller teeth, the machine can automatically rebuild the tooth top with one or multiple hardfacing layers according to the wear condition. This allows worn sugar mill rollers to be restored instead of replaced prematurely.
Dedicated sugar mill welding programs — inclined, rectangular, teardrop, triangular, circular and tooth-top repair.
Automatic teardrop welding on tooth tops — replaces repetitive manual spot welding.
PLC & Wireless Control
The JH-350-C uses a TECO PLC-based control system for automatic welding operation.
Major functions can be controlled through the wireless handheld controller, including:
- X-axis movement
- Y-axis movement
- Wire feeding
- Welding start / stop
- Teaching and positioning
- Automatic welding programs
- Emergency stop
This allows the operator to remain close to the workpiece during setup while maintaining centralized control of the welding process.
TECO PLC control — wireless handheld control of motion, wire feeding and welding programs.
Wireless handheld controller — teaching, positioning and automatic welding programs.
Why Use Automatic Sugar Roll Hardfacing?
Manual rebuilding of sugar mill roller teeth can require thousands of individual weld deposits. Automatic hardfacing helps improve:
- Maintenance efficiency
- Welding consistency
- Deposit spacing
- Tooth profile repeatability
- Labor productivity
- Number of rollers repaired during shutdown periods
For sugar mills with limited annual maintenance windows, reducing welding time can directly increase the number of rolls that can be rebuilt before production restarts.
Automatic hardfacing in the maintenance window — more rolls rebuilt before production restarts.
